FAQ

About Culture and Talent Strategy

How does culture and talent strategy add value to my business?

There are many benefits, but the core reason we do this is for business alignment and performance consistency. As your team grows or changes, it becomes increasingly difficult to maintain alignment on mission, values, strategy, goals, culture, and leadership philosophy. Cracks in your team’s alignment on these critical topics might as well be cracks in the foundation of the physical office space; it’s bound to crumble. This is linked to the second law of thermodynamics – entropy. There is a gradual decline of order and predictability in all systems that are left to their own devices. 3PC helps combat this entropy by offering tools that hold teams together, build them stronger and grow them over time.

Is “culture” just a buzzword or is there really something to it?

Yes and Yes. Unfortunately yes, the term “culture” is a buzzword used by many gimmicky marketers and inexperienced salespeople in an attempt to make things sound sexier than they really are. This very issue is what drives our passion for strategic culture design; it’s as if we have something to prove! Instead of throwing this term around like a buzzword, we define it, measure it, build it and show the return on investment. It’s our mission to out-compete all the other imposters making unsubstantiated claims about “culture”!

Shouldn’t culture be more natural and fluid? Like swagger and confidence - you either have it or you don’t?

No, we don’t think so. Yes, there are naturally “cool”, inclusive, and fun-to-work-for organizations out there, but in our experience, that’s the exception, not the rule. It’s pretty difficult to create sustainable performance, happy team members, diverse and inclusive teams, all while aligning on values, goals, and leadership philosophies. If nothing else, it simply becomes difficult to control culture in times of company growth. All of that said, alignment and strategy in the talent and culture space are extremely important and are something we can build intentionally. We make sure this feels natural and fluid – even though it’s planned and strategic.

What does talent management mean? Is this another buzzword?

Talent management, or, integrated talent management is a commonly researched organizational practice. Basically, it helps us systematically recruit, select, retain, engage, develop, promote and retire or off-board team members within any organization. It’s also referred to as the “employee lifecycle” and we have a fantastic ability to impact this lifecycle in a positive, performance-enhancing way.
